So, debating applying to another grad school. I know, I know, most people apply to several, but I'm sorry. I have limited funds with which to pay those application fees, a good concept as to what my program ought to look like, and a growing aversion to snow. That limits where I want to go, and that's not really a bad thing, except for the part where I checked out University of North Carolina at Church Hill on a whim.

They have a Costume Production MFA that sounds fantastic and a whole lot of fun. I've steered clear from Theater programs mostly because I feel like I don't have enough of a theater background, but then reading the list of courses which range from basic patterning to Historical Draping and Macro Puppets....I realized that a lot of the skills I have are what they are looking for....and it sounds like so much fun.

It helps that North Carolina is very active in the Ren Faire circuit, as well as other living history groups....

So I may be applying, I can't wait too long or I will probably talk myself out of it again...like I did at the beginning of this process.

My sister's in her second year of a Costume Design MFA here at Ohio State; I think you might have met her at some point? Anyway, I imagine she could tell you about what HER program, at least, requires. And she wasn't always a theatre costumer, either -- she started off her college career as a fashion design major. Elisa O'Neal.

*nods* I met Elisa when she did her visit to the department. She was also in a class I took last winter. Fantastic work.

Thank You!

I think you might like Chapel Hill better than OSU, although I haven't been to UNC and I've been at OSU for a few years. Nothing against the school, but if your aversion to snow is growing, living in Columbus won't help that. I thought snow was neat when I moved here, and now, not so much. Anyhow, I've known several people in that area of North Carolina and they really liked it there.

Oh yes, it's not really a question of between OSU theatre or UNC theatre. I'm not interested in staying in Columbus, so it as a program isn't an option I'm looking at.

I've lived in places with snow for my whole life and well, I've seen plenty of it for awhile. I'm sure I'll miss it again at some point, just not right now.
