So sometime last week, [personal profile] ravin_raven tagged me with the Movie Meme. So here it is, and there might be actual content afterwards...I haven't decided.

[01] -- Look up TEN of your favorite movies on IMDB.
[02] -- Click the "trivia" link in the sidebar.
[03] -- Post a fun and random bit of trivia from each film.

 Hook

'David Bowie' turned down the role of Captain James Hook.   (That's ok, Dustin Hoffman was a great alternative choice)

Stranger than Fiction

The last names of all the characters (and the bus line and publishing firm names) are the names of mathematicians, scientists, engineers, artists, etc. (Harold) Francis Crick: with Watson and Wilkins found the structure of DNA; (Ana) Blaise Pascal: French mathematician and philosopher; (Karen) Gustave Eiffel: engineer and designer of the Eiffel Tower; (Penny) M.C. Escher: Dutch graphic artist; (Dr.) Magnus Gustaf Mittag-Leffler: Swedish mathematician; (Professor Jules) David Hilbert: German mathematician; (Doctor) Gerardus Mercator: 16th century Flemish cartographer; (Kronecker Bus Line) Leopold Kronecker: German-born mathematician and logician; (Banneker Press) Benjamin Banneker: free African American mathematician, astronomer, clockmaker, and publisher; (Dr. Cayly) Arthur Cayley, 19th century British mathematician. Only Dave (no last name) seems to be non-famous. Could these be the 'heroes' of the writer? The book Dustin Hoffman is reading on the lifeguard stand is Sue Grafton's "I is for Innocent"

28 Days Later

Christopher Eccleston and the other soldiers in the film had a three-day training programme with real soldiers to help them learn how to carry themselves believably. ( I watched this long before I knew who Christopher Eccleston was)

Moulin Rouge

Real Moulin Rouge dancers of the time wore split knickers under their dresses, a technical point that the film-makers chose not to follow in order to obtain a PG-13 rating. (I bet that was breezy and easy)

Aladdin

Right before the song "One Step Ahead," Aladdin says "All this for a loaf of bread" which is a reference to the musical ‘Les Miserables’ (where the main character is imprisoned for 20 years for stealing a loaf of bread). Lea Salonga, Jasmine's singing voice, starred as Eponine in Les Miserables.

Labrynth

The full costume for Hoggle was lost for some time. It was later found at an unclaimed baggage store in Scottsboro, Alabama and is now on display in their museum.

The Holiday

On an episode of "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" (1992), Dustin Hoffman said that his cameo in the film was not scripted and unplanned. He was driving by the Blockbuster shown in the film and saw all of the cameras and equipment so he decided to stop in and see what was happening. Because he knew director Nancy Meyers, they worked up a scene which ultimately made the final cut.

Ratatouille

In the scene in the sewer where Remy is paddling the book, right before the final drop-off into the sewer pipe, the infamous "dead men tell no tales" sound bite from the ?Pirates of the Caribbean? ride is faintly heard

V for Vendetta

The Houses of Parliament destroyed in the film are not the same buildings which Guy Fawkes planned to destroy in 1605. The original Parliament buildings were destroyed in a fire in 1834. The current buildings are built on the same site and took 30 years to build, finishing in 1870.

Twelve Monkeys

Terry Gilliam was afraid that Brad Pitt wouldn't be able to pull off the nervous, rapid speech. He sent him to a speech coach but in the end he just took away Pitt's cigarettes, and Pitt played the part exactly as Gilliam wanted.
