Holy crap I am actually getting closer to being finished with this process.  Savannah is pretty much done but for the Resume and Portfolio. I have to tweak my Statement for UNC,  work on my portfolio (which requires more work than SCAD as I want to rework a bunch of costume illustrations I did for Theatre 656), bug recommenders about deadlines, and find a way to fund this trip down to Chapel Hill.

Looking quicky at gas prices, mileage and hotel rates, it's going to cost about 200- 400 dollars to go depending on several variables. It only takes eight hours to get there, so about $100 for gas if the prices go up, about $70 if they don't and that's round trip. Anywhere from $60 to $160 a night for a hotel, depending on location and quality and I don't tend to spend more than 100 for a hotel. We could spend day driving, sleep, visit campus, and drive back so 1 night at a hotel; or we could drive, sleep, visit, sleep, and drive back. I'm inclined to do the second because neither Pyr or I like driving very late at night, and we would both be exhausted from the visit but it is more expensive. Plus food, is another 100, if we eat cheap on the way there and back, with a nice dinner.

100
120 (two nights at cheapest hotel)
100
320

200(two night more expensive)

400

Unfortunately, this is money we don't have. I'm going to talk to my mom, maybe dad and see if they can help any, after all this is about 6 weeks down the line at most. If I get the new job and start back at David's  at the end of February, I might have the money but a lot of it will be going towards normal bills during those weeks.

Anybody want commissions made?

Have you considered posting on Craigslist to see if anyone has a guest room you can stay in for less money than a hotel? Or maybe you can ask the schools to place you with another student for the night.

Possible, though I'm not sure if they'll place couples, since I plan on driving down with Pyr. I can't drive 8 hours alone, and he's interested in the program as well.

i just double checked for you, there are a 100+ people offering couches or beds in chapel hill. Should be easy to find 1 or 2 nights of free and friendly accommodations.

this person in particular might suite you really well
