Why is it the only place I've worked for doing alterations and repairs will only do a 'verification of employment' and not talk about my skills and what I can do to a potential employer!?!?!!

Why does the potential employer not call me when he gets the runaround at former job and tell me so?

i didn't think companies were supposed to do anything other than verify your employment.

Try asking said former boss if you can use them as a professional reference. Then they could legitimately talk about your skills and say good things about you.

I think that is the actual minimum, but whether or not they can say good things beyond that can be company policy.

I had just talked to her and she said she could be a reference for school (and she is) but not professionally. *pout*
