Oct. 16th, 2007 12:11 pmSo I got hit on by a random guy in the street today. I'd been trying to find the Buckeye Bar because my computer had decided to not like the wireless here on campus. I had walked up 19th, only to realize that I was going the wrong direction as my standard landmark of the 9 to 5 written on, I think, Haskett hall hadn't shown up. As I was turning to go back in the direction that I had come from, a fairly decent looking guy was passing me on the right. The only thing I disliked physically at first glance was the straight slightly greasy hair in eyes look. And then he struck up a conversation about people doing exactly what I did - realizing they were going in the wrong direction and doing something silly (ie talking to myself and reassuring that I was in fact going the wrong way) to make it look like it was intentional. I told him it had been completely accidental, and he offered me the use of his umbrella as it had begun to rain while saying something to the effect of " you just wanted to hang out with me". I declined and then he split off to go between Macpherson and Scott- telling me see ya and punching me on the shoulder as he left.
It was terribly surreal...I don't hold conversations like that everyday, especially not getting hit on by guys in the street. It kinda worries me that it'll turn out he's been in one of my classes or something this entire quarter and I haven't realized it. Or we'll keep running in to each other... Fate likes to play with me in those ways.
Here's a snippet of the actual conversation as I can remember it, since I need to practice writing dialogue, I suck at it.
"Did you just do that thing where you pretend to talk to yourself and then turn back the way you were goig all non-chalantly?"
"Ugh...." as I realize he was actually talking to me, and wow he's tall and why wasn't I paying attention to who was around me? " Actually, that was me really talking to myself because I was wrong about where the place I was going to was..."
" Or maybe you were waiting for me to catch up and then walk next to me?"
" Ah, " did he actually just say that?! " Well, I hadn't even noticed you were over there. and didn't really think that...no" Though now I'm catching on to the whole flirting thing and going "bwah" with confusion.
" Well, see you later" Arm punch, actual physical contact.
" Bye" and leaves me still completely bewildered and worried now that fate is going to mean I see him everywhere now... because really this doesn't happen to me often nor as randomly as it seems to other people. And so something has to be up .
