Temp agency went ok. Was more like the applications online than I thought it would be. I also got to play with these tests to see how well I work ont he computer with Access, Word, Excel and Powerpoint. Access was completely new to me but I don't think I did too badly. So now I just sit around and wait.

The Mickey Zucker book is boring...looks like the new obsession is Robin Hobb. Now if the rest of the Liveship Books were in stock at the bookstore I'd be set.

No word on the Costume Shop as yet...I hope she checks her email often.

Good luck with the temp agency. One of my rl pals just did the same thing and they told her se was too smart/talented/awesomeinallways for any of the jobs they had available, which is probably best as they were trying to fill positions for mail carriers and linecooks. They did help her find a cool assistant-to-somebody-important job, though.

What is Microsoft Access for, anyway? I am frightfully in the dark and everyone seems to require it these days.

Also, have you read any Patricia McKillip?

Access...I have no idea but from what I saw of it during the 'test' it seemed like a hyped version of Excel. Whatever else it does, I have no idea.

As for Patricia McKillip, never read her and honestly the names doesn't sound familar either, which is odd. What's her stuff about?

She wrote "The Riddle-Master of Hed" which I thought was a vastly intriguing title when I was 13, but I didn't really understand what was going on in the book until I re-read it at 20. She's sort of complex and she doesn't give you all the details at once. There's a lot of imagery and magic and her plots tend to spiral and build on themselves until you get to the end, look down, and go "ahhh, now I get it," once you've actually gone through the whole book.

I've only read a few of her books because the local library doesn't carry too many of them and they're a bit pricey, even in paperback, because she never does anything like a normal writer. But the cover art is always gorgeous and the books are worth reading twice (or more) because everything about them is detailed and beautiful and very much like fairy tales for adults.
