Apr. 24th, 2005 01:55 amHad, hopefully, the LAST Garb Workshop of the year. I am so damn tired and stiff and completely non functional at the moment. I'd rather be reading Remus slash than writing the last page and a half of my paper. Stupid paper. Has to be worth 100 points out of 500 for the quarter so I need to do a semi-decent job of it. Thankfully semi-decent for me is usually what comes out of a first write. Usually. This could be crap for all I care at the moment.
Plus, since I decided to cut class on Friday, I just now found out that I have a composition due in French on Monday as well...shit. Dammit. I do not need another paper to write in a night.
Today is simply not my day. Woke up too damn early, spent a good bit of the morning simply functioning so as not to think too much. Failed doing that somewhat. I just want to know what's going on, and unfortunately, no one seems to know. Figures.
Felt that this was relevant, somewhere along the way. It struck a chord as decent writing tends to do with me and I am horrible with quoting things so I'm sticking it here. The entire story is good, interesting in a way and not terribly Snapely but I've found little in fanfiction that does Snape well and make it work with a Lupin slash.
excerpt "Not Love" by Snegurochka
“True love is about not getting what you want,” Snape continued in a deadly whisper. “It is about living without the person you desire.” Lupin held Snape’s gaze unflinchingly, making Snape suddenly uncomfortable. But he plunged on, blood hammering in his veins and emotion coursing through him. “It’s about watching the person you most desire, watching him toss his life away with another, another who is not half the man he is… it’s about watching all of this, watching it for fucking years, and doing nothing.”
Lupin’s face grew angry. “Not half—! Snape, you fucking prat, I will not stand here listening to—”
But Snape raised a hand and cut him off. “No,” he said simply, turning back towards the castle. He lifted his chin and swept his robes around himself. He paused briefly and looked back at Lupin. “Love, Lupin, is not about joy. It’s about endurance.” He strode back down the hill and disappeared, leaving Lupin glowering at his retreating back.
