" It's a beautiful morning "

Why is it that whenever I have something to do, like get ready for a prom or go out dancing, I end up having to get all sheepy the same morning? Yesterday was Aron's prom at CTC, and Mike decided we also needed to shear the lambs and choose which ones were going to go to another breeder for 4-H lambs. That took up most of my morning and then I was scrambling to dress for the prom, which thankfully, was only informal. I ended up wearing my homecoming dress and curling my hair with Spoodles. They are basically a piece of foam tubing wrapped in a semi-sticky ace bandage,  those are some of the oddest things to play with but I had a lot of fun with them. I think it would have turned out better if I had managed to get another set. My hair is rather long so having only ten was simply not enough to get the spirals I was hoping for. It turned out ok, and even after going to sleep, I still have a little bit of curl in the ends. I was impressed to say the least.

The prom was interesting.
I knew about eight people there, up to and unforntunately including Aron's psychotic ex, who shall remain nameless. In the year and a half that I've been dating Aron, she has not spoken of me except to bitch and complain to her little cohorts -and anyone who will listen- about how I stole him from her. Only once did she even try to talk to me about the situation, and then only to claim that he was her's. *chuckles* That was a week after I had started dating Aron. Since then she has done nothing overt and anything she's tried behind my back has had no repercussions, so I figure that if she can not buck up the nerve  then she is not worth my effort.

On a better note, we were not the least formal of the couples there. In fact many had gone full attack mode on the dressing-up. There were literally dozens of poofy skirts and corest-like bodices with lacing, one girl who wore a crinoline-like skirt as her skirt. I wanted to scream at her that if she thought she was going for retro then she might as well have put a skirt over her underclothes. There were a few revolutionary style gowns trying for the goth-look, velvet over-bodice and skirt with corresponding underskirt with long, flowing, lacy sleeves. I bet they were sweating their butts off in all that heavy fabric. Needless to say, I am very confident and proud of my own dress and the fact that it will be the only one like it, or even the only style at prom that another girl will have something similar on. Maybe, if we can get the digi camera working correctly I will post it.
Ah, I forgot about the truck. How could I?

Aron's sister's boyfriend must really like him because he let Aron take his truck to prom. It's an S-10 that has been jacked up so that its windows are at my chin ( I'm 5'5" ). Aron was worried that I would not be able to get into it. Now if I had been wearing a longer dress, probably not but it only reached to my knees and was flared, so I was perfectly able of leaping in and out of the truck. It has one of the best sound systems that I have heard in anything. Metallica's Black Album sounded just wicked as we drove into the parking lot.

Aron is also getting to drive his friend's Mustang to my prom on the 8th. A lovely 2002 or 3 I think, silver and a convertible. Let's hope it doesn't rain. But oh well, I told Aron that if I am getting to ride in it then I had damn well better get to drive it. It would be hypocrisy to simply ride in a Mustang when I have wanted one since I knew what a car was. Though I've wanted one of the 70's styles and someone is laughing at me because just down the street is an awesome green one 72 or 73 model with a vinyl top. I drool everytime I see it.

Other than last night, not much has happened here in me-ville. Went to bed almost as soon as I got home, went and fed animals and promptly fell back asleep when I came back. Mike woke me up at ten, loaded up those sheep we choose yesterday, and drove down to Waynesville to drop those off and pick up the ones I get to keep. Those are some nice sheep, too. I don't know what I'm going to do this year if I win something. Probably faint out there in the show ring.

Well, I think that about wraps things up for this weekend. I need a shower because between the lovely, finally warm weather and hauling around sheep, I don't smell all that pretty. And then working on my dress, while it is still quiet. The kids come back tonight. Joy.

She is most definitley not worth your time. I've been down that road before. *sighs*

Glad you had fun, and got to drive the cool truck.

I have determined that I am going to be utterly alone at Prom. *cries*

Trust me I have realized that, I am just amazed at her audacity to rant to others who are my friends and expect them to rally with her.

Actually I didn't get to drive the truck, was a bit nervous simply being that high. Which is weird considering I will willingly ride any roller coaster or look off the edge of a tall building.

I've spent many a dance by myself and had a hell of a lot of fun just hanging out with my friends. There have been some days where I wish I could do so again.
